Hey, Let’s Revisit the PBA Website Too
July 11, 2009 by Benhur · 10 Comments
My friend Gary, over there at Ballex wrote a lengthy one: Why It’s Hard To Cover The PBA? I couldn’t agree more.
In fact, in 2 years (or 3), I’ve blogged 2-3 posts hitting the lackluster PBA website. 2010 is fast approaching and the PBA website is still stuck in mediocrity. When I heard that the PBA is planning on building they own turf, I remember posting, before they start thinking of building a coliseum, they better fix their website first, pronto.
And so, I have an open letter to Commissioner Barrios…
The Solar Crunch
March 14, 2009 by Benhur · 5 Comments
Did you read the news yesterday? Only on it’s 2nd conference of PBA coverage, Solar Sports is requesting for a 25% off on royalty fee from PBA.
Asking for a cut after one conference is one thing, but the thing that doesn’t sit well with the PBA is that, while asking for 25% royalty payment discount, Solar Sports is reportedly bidding for the UAAP coverage.
(BTW, Solar’s gigantic contract with the PBA is P480 million over three years. Beating out ABS-CBN’s P350 million. Solar’s requested discount is 25%. So, 25% x P480 million is P360 million. Roughly equal to ABS-CBN’s bid. So, looks like ABS’ number are dead-on accurate.)

The game of basketball is evolving to a quicker pace, and as basketball’s agent of change, Kobe Bryant is leading the charge in breakthrough innovation. For his fourth signature shoe, he demanded a shoe that was lowcut and even lighter than the revolutionary Nike Hyperdunk (13 ounces).

Nike Hyperdunk 2015, Inspired By Marty McFly Shoes
July 11, 2008 by .:. · Leave a Comment
Quick entry from our friends…
The Hyperdunk, designed by Nike creative director Eric Avar, is one of the lightest and most innovative basketball footwear products Nike has ever produced. Debuting on the feet of Nike athlete Kobe Bryant on April 10th, the Hyperdunk will hit retail outlets in the U.S. on July 27th.
While designing the Hyperdunk shoe, Avar took design inspiration from a Nike concept shoe created in the late 80’s for movie character Marty McFly [played by Michael J. Fox] in the film Back to the Future II. The shoes were created through a licensing agreement with Universal Studios Consumer Products Group. Looking at the Hyperdunk’s overall shape, distinctive heel counter and midsole, these features all hearken back to this original concept shoe. Read more
