Official 2009 PBA Draft Predictions
July 30, 2009 by SYDMAN · 21 Comments
BY THE WAY: Arwind Santos was traded to the San Miguel Beermen for Marc Pingris, Ken Bono, and a future draft pick. Pingris won’t stay as a Whopper though as BK plans him to move back to Purefoods. The BK management is hoping Purefoods will give them a better player in return.
Analysis: Look at the bigger picture here: Sure, Bono averaged 3.6 points and 2.2 rebounds in two seasons in the PBA… try playing in one team that doesn’t respect rookies and another team that’s overloaded with talent. The Spiderman will play in a title-hungry squad but expect his MVP runner-up days be over!

The 2009 PBA draft is just a few days away and other than the PBA Finals, or maybe PBA opening day, this is one of the most anticipated events of teams and fans alike in the PBA calendar. It’s the opportunity for teams to reload and restock its roster for next season’s campaign, as well as for fans to know who the new players are for their favorite teams. It also marks the start of the off-season, and all the trades and free agent signings that come along with it.
HOOPS HODGEPODGE: Team Pilipinas @ Jones Cup + Ateneo ruling the UAAP

HOOPS HODGEPODGE
The past week has seen a lot of hoops activity. Some insights on these happenings.
Team Pilipinas in the Jones Cup
I actually wanted to write this article 3 days ago. But I’ve sharing the same grief that the whole country has been experiencing since the tournament began, hence no motivation to write something decent. Six games so far into the tournament, with only 1 win to show for it. Now if this was a rag tag team like on occasions we’ve sent in the past or collection of stars from the collegiate leagues this would have been less bitter to swallow but we’re talking about our National Team, among the best our pro league can offer. Utterly disappointing.

Now we’re all witnesses: The Jordan Crawford Dunk Finally Hits the Surface
July 23, 2009 by Chrisangelo · 6 Comments
Hi guys, I’m posting this all the way from my school library so this is a very short entry.
Remember the Dunk-gate a couple of weeks back? LeBron getting dunked on by college freshman? Nike confiscating all tapes of the dunk? Well I am glad to inform you guys that the dunk video has finally hit the surface!
Well we should all thank Ebaumnation for this, it’s actually a 100 times better than the TMZ cellphone video a 1000 times better than nothing.
A drive down the middle and a 2 handed flush right on LeBron’s James? Awesome!
Nike confiscating the video to “save” LeBron for being a 15 minute laughing stock? Priceless.

The Kobe Bryant Asia Tour Part 1: The Press Conference and Bonifacio High Street Edition
July 21, 2009 by Chrisangelo · 2 Comments
For the whole set of pictures from the Presscon and Boni High, click here just don’t stalk me or anything. Lol
I came in at the Penninsula at around 11:45 all thanks to the stupid MRT delay (Hey guys read the movement of my lips: You’re supposed to make our trips faster) so there, registration starts at 11 so I’m a little bit late but it’s okay. As soon as I got there, I ate lunch and walked around to take photos. At about 12:45 pm, Patricia Bermudez-Hizon came out to pump up the crowed, said a few words about the event then introduced Mae Dichupa who quickly introduced us to the man himself, the black mamba.. Mr Kobe Bryant.
Then off to the press con, I was going to ask a question but time ran out.. I wasn’t satisfied with the way the media asked questions tho.
2009 PBA Mock Draft (The Unofficial Tally)
July 21, 2009 by SYDMAN · 25 Comments
This is always been my “happy” moment. You see, this day is one of my most awaited. Every year, I’ll wait for the names to appear and I usually to this with a pen and paper and a hard book as “patungan”. I was first fascinated with the draft in 1993. I could still remember the first round back then…
1 STA. LUCIA – Jun Limpot
2 GINEBRA – Vic Pablo (pick later traded to Pepsi for Manny Victorino)
3 ALASKA – Johnny Abarrientos
4 PUREFOODS – Dwight Lago
5 PUREFOODS – Benny Cheng
6 ALASKA – Johnedel Cardel
7 POP COLA – Boyet Fernandez (pick traded to SLR)
8 ALASKA – Dickie Bachmann
Until the 2008 Draft, this was I think the best batch of any draft. These players became either superstars or excellent role players and even continued their basketball careers after retirement. In the second round of this draft, the Purefoods Hotdogs selected two players who would later enjoy success as a San Miguel Beermen. Olsen Racela is one time considered as the best point guard in the country whilst the Scavenger, Freddie Abuda became an excellent defensive specialist.
Through the years, those pieces of paper became Microsoft Word files and the internet has been a wealthy source of information to make the smarks (smart internet fans) ready to answer why this particular player needs to be the number one choice.

You guys deserve it. You played a perfect game in Game 7, showed effort from both ends of the floor and DEFINITELY DESERVED the championship.
- Gabe Freeman is a beast. That lanky looking black dude is probably the most explosive import from the offensive glass in PBA history. I’ve never seen someone hit the glass and dive for looseballs like Freeman does. Definitely deserves to be the import of the conference, hopefully for San Miguel fans, he’ll get to play again next year. For Ginebra fans like me? Can you please play for us? Hahaha
