The 2007 NBA Draft Results (June 28, 2007 – US Time)
Enough introductions! On with the review!
1. Portland: Greg Oden
Good grief. You might not see this in two years but the Blazers can be the team of the future. In two years, they added talent, depth, and they took out the loose ends. All this team needs now is experience and surely, aging teams like the defending champs should worry. Draft Grade: A+
2. Seattle: Kevin Durant
Same goes for the Sonics. Flirting with the Oklahoma swerve brought the team’s intensity to a halt but it now looks like they have settled… at least for now. Just like the Blazers, they are administering spring cleaning and yes, this was another good pick. Draft Grade: A+
3. Atlanta: Al Horford
The Hawks knew what to pick but they should have gotten Conley. The Hawks biggest weakness was not their scoring ability but the playmaking. Horford is a bruiser at best and I doubt his 6’10 body can mix up to those of Shaq, Duncan, Yao, or even Bogut. Draft Grade: B Read more

Interactive Mock Draft
Here’s Bill Simmons at his best, throwing big time response at every point thrown at him by Ford. He easily bludgeoned NBA draft expert Chat Ford. But still, Ford might have won the one-upmanship as Bill made the biggest mistake in this interactive mock draft, he selected Kevin Durant overall. Read more

June 28, 2007 by Chrisangelo · 9 Comments
I got this news from an email and after further research I found this site containing the same news about The Phonepals flying to US to train with The San Antonio Spurs in August.
Phone Pals headed to Texas in August
The Talk ‘N Text Phone Pals may be taking on NBA champions the San Antonio Spurs, at least in several scrimmages. Spurs director for pro player personnel Dell Demps made an announcement about the two teams having a two-week training camp this August in Alamo City, Texas. Talk ‘N Text coach Derick Pumaren is now ironing out details for the trip. Read more
Top Basketball Sites

According to Hitwise, for the week ending June 16, 2007, the top ten Basketball websites based on “visits.”
ESPN.com - Men’s College Basketball
Surprising to me, that Yahoo’s NBA site is one rank higher the ESPN’s NBA page. So what now, ESPN is no longer the worldwide leader in sports?
The Red Bull Yeng Guiao Era is Ticking
I was at a medical clinic lobby earlier today and I happen to read a Yeng Guiao article from a news daily (BTW, when was the last time you bought a printed daily? Excluding “Toro”, “Barako” and “Bulgar”). Later, I scoured the Philippine Star online edition, to find the Pampanga provincial news. Regarding how the lahar-sand quarrying in Pampanga should be dealt with by the local leaders.
Expressing concern over the lack of experience of incoming governor Fr. Eddie Panlilio, re-elected Vice Gov. Joseller Guiao urged him to initially allow state-owned National Resources Development Corp. (NRDC) to supervise lahar sand quarrying operations in the province. “The NRDC has the experience and can help put in order the quarrying operations in Pampanga while Panlilio is still organizing his own team and studying the procedures,” Guiao told The STAR.
He was offered a “special position” by the good (but untested. wait, Mark Lapid held the Pampanga capitol once, so the barometer to succeed for Fr. Panlilio is as low as it can be) Father Panlilio. The post was to head a Task Force in Pampanga but Yeng Guiao declined.
A hint of things to come, Yeng already dropped the “Father” in referring to Panlilio, err, father Panlilio. He is as combative on the court as he is in the Political arena. Read more

Talk N Text 2007 PBA Fiesta Conference Semis Kicks-Off

With the demise of the Ginebra, the PBA will now try to make a blockbuster semi-finals out of the following cast: Talk N Text, Red Bull, San Miguel Beer and Alaska Milk.
After a 0-6 disastrous start in the elims and after two miraculous victories (over Coke and Ginebra) in the wildcard and quarters stages, Galen Young and the whole San Miguel Beer team square off with a well-rested Alaska Milk. Who would have thought SMB will go this far? I did not.
Alaska is playing almost in full force. Only Tony Dela Cruz is on loan to the RP Team. His position is adequately covered by veterans Jeffrey Cariaso and Nic Belasco. To power Alaska in the offensive front is Willie Miller while Rosell Ellis will anchor defensive schemes of things. Read more

June 18, 2007 by Chrisangelo · 5 Comments
First up, I apologize for the looooooong absence. I’m still trying to adjust into a new stage of my life, yeah. The college life. Anyway, this one’s not going to be that long either, school’s been taking its toll on me so that’s why you haven’t seen me or my wtf articles for quite sometime now. Enough of that, let’s get this started.
Earlier today, I was browsing some sites, specifically looking for some news on The Kobe-LA conflict and I ended up in Kobe’s own site, and look what I’ve found. Words from Mr.Kobe Bryant himself. Read more

The NBA Playoffs: WHAT WENT WRONG?
A marketing nightmare… this was what the 2007 playoffs was. In the regular season, we saw a lot a great things that did not translate come crunch time.
Where were Dallas’ 15-game win streaks and Miami’s sudden surge despite injury-depleted? Where were Kobe Bryant’s 50-point games and the tremendous new tandem to hit centerstage that was Allen Iverson and Carmelo Anthony?
Fact of the matter is, we all knew that the West will win this year but we shill the fact that the most fundamental of teams won against a horde of exciting rosters.

LeBron James Finals Showing - We are all witnesses!
A 0 - 4 LeBrooming by the San Antonio Spurs.
Games 1 to 3, LeBron James made only 2-of-26 jumpers, 3 games is too long a stretch to have an off-shooting spree.
Critical missed lay-ups in Game 3. MJ comparisons huh? Did my Michael Jordan miss gimme lay-ups? And boy, his outside were really clanking.
Consecutive crucial turn-overs fourth quarter of Game 4. He turned the ball over with the Cavs only down by six and still 2 and half minutes to go. Later, the ball glanced off his hands in a rebound play.
He’s clueless when to pass and take it to the rack. (Remember the pass he made to Anderson Varejao in must-score possession?) Read more
