Chrisangelo’s Four Point Play

April 29, 2007 by Chrisangelo · 3 Comments

Hello guys and welcome to the first ever edition of Chrisangelo’s four point play. In this article I’m going to discuss four different topics worth discussing for in just one blog post. Let’s get things started shall we?

The Bulls on parade

Moments after the third game in America Airlines Arena, everyone knew that the Bulls were no laughing matter.

Yesterday Chicago once again proved to everybody that they are a team to reckon with. Once again trashing the Heat in their own hometurf to the tune of 104 - 96. Before the game everyone was talking about how The Bulls were too raw to face the defending champs on their homecourt with their back against the wall. But 48 minutes later Chicago looked like they were the team who went on to play in the championship while The Heat looked like they’re the team who’ve lost two first round matches in the past two years, blowing a 12 point third quarter lead and a seven point four quarter lead in an all important game where the series is possibly on the line. Random 2007 NBA Playoff Notes

(1) The Chicago Bulls are too much for the banged up and old Miami Heat. Feels like Luol Deng and Ben Gordon are not playing in an all-important playoff series. Seems like the two are enjoying, just playing Chicago’s set plays like they are playing streetball. If Chicago’s main reason for bringing in Ben Wallace is to stop a Shaq powered team, job (is almost)done. Read more

Ginebra San Miguel on Jessica Soho Reports

April 28, 2007 by .:. · Leave a Comment

A super nice feature from Jessica Soho about the Ginebra San Miguel, then and not. Truly heart warming piece from GMA 7’s Jessica Soho Reports. Kapuso, indeed.

The video includes a reunion of sorts of the mid-90s version of Ginebra. An Eye-Ball amongst players Marlou Aquino, Noli Locsin, Benny Cheng, Bal David and of course, Pido Jarencio, and Vince Hizon, the Three Point shooting specialist, Dodot Jaworski and the Big J himself happened.

Outside perspective coming in from Chino Trinidad. Bad shot is, Audio is a bit delayed in part 1. In Part 3, hear Jaworski say, “Hindi pa ko nagreretiro.”

Part 1:

Part 2:

Part 3:

If you’re a Ginebra San Miguel fan, I suggest you save the clips. You’ll never know, PBA or GMA might pull the plug and remove these type of contents at YouTube. Don’t know how to save these clips from YouTube? Try using this.

Ball Hog 7: Lebron-Marbury Shoes, Wade’s Crib, Playoff Action and Dan Marjerle Crazy Shot

Lebron James Versus Stephon Marbury

End of March, Knicks and Caves met up and two battles happened. One was the game and the other was the shoe battle between James and Starbury. One wearing $150 kicks and the other, $15 shoes.

Before the game, James took a little shot at Marbury’s $14.98 kicks, saying he couldn’t imagine endorsing a sneaker that cheap. “No, I don’t think so,” James said. “Me being with Nike, we hold our standards high.”

In response, Marbury, who is friendly with James, was lacing up his Starburys before the game when informed of LeBron’s comment. He thought about it for a moment and said, “I’d rather own than be owned.”

That’s my motto too Mr. Stephon. For the first time, something right came out of Marbury’s mouth. Remember, he’s the same guy, who proclaimed himself to be the best point guard in all of NBA.

The 150 shoe versus the $15 Shoe. Link here. USA Today covered Marbury Shoe here, titled, “Marbury’s sneaker attack is for real.”

Dywane Wade’s Crib

One comment had it perfectly described. This is case of too much money and not much class. Check out the link. What’s up with that Spiderman dude? Nine million dollars for that? Read more

Bring PBA To The Fans?

April 27, 2007 by Benhur · 1 Comment

Bring To The Fans? That’s loads and loads of dump.

What the hell was that? PBA’s tune was to bring the PBA to the Fans that’s why they bring in games outside Mega Manila. Outside RP even. But sending the All-Star Happening over there at the North then not airing the action LIVE is definitely a step back. We are not talking about a game being held in Guam. The activities and festivities is just up north. Even the MBA back late nineties found it to be doable. This feels like PBA year 1982. Read more

PBA All-Star Schedule Rundown by Quinito Henson

April 26, 2007 by .:. · 1 Comment

Tomorrow morning, the PBA All-Star bandwagon rolls into Baguio City from San Fernando, La Union, and fans up north are looking forward to an unforgettable invasion.

The PBA group’s first stop is the City Hall for a courtesy call at 11:30 a.m. After driving through Session Road, the visitors gather for lunch at the Baguio Golf and Country Club multi-purpose hall where a press conference is scheduled to introduce the starting lineups of the North and South squads.

The South’s first five is made up of leading vote-getter Danny Seigle, Eric Menk, Dondon Hontiveros, James Yap and Asi Taulava while the North’s starters are Mark Caguioa, Jay-Jay Helterbrand, Kerby Raymundo, Danny Ildefonso and Romel Adducul.

Six of the 10 starters are on the national team that recently arrived from a two-week impact camp in Carson City. They’re exempted from playing in the Fiesta Conference so fans are eager to watch them in action again.

Fans chose the starters via votes polled from text messages, e-mails and ballots in game venues. Seigle compiled 118,260 votes. The only others to amass at least 100,000 votes were Menk with 104,784 and Caguioa with 101,l72. Helterbrand came close to breaching the barrier with 96,204.

Of the 24 All-Stars, five are from Barangay Ginebra, four from San Miguel Beer, three from Talk ’N’ Text, three from Purefoods, three from Red Bull, two from Air21, two from Alaska, one from Sta. Lucia Realty and one from Coca-Cola. Only Welcoat is not represented in the annual classic.

Manu Ginobili Official Website

manu ginobili

This site comes in English and Spanish. The English site here.

Surprisingly, ManuGinobili.com is up to date. Proof of timeliness is it broadcasts the San Antonio first game, first round loss to Iverson-Anthony led Denver Nuggets, 95 to 89.

Site says design and development team includes Manu Ginobili himself. I guess, when he is not busy practicing his flopping tricks, he is busy souping up his site. Read more

Chris Speaks: NBA Individual awards

April 24, 2007 by Chrisangelo · 11 Comments

Hello guys and welcome to another edition of Chris Speaks. Today, we’re going to talk about the individual NBA Awards and I’m also going to give my opinions and bets on the said awards. Ok here we go…

MVP

Dirk Nowitzki - Dirk Nowitzki has been a consistent guy and was one of the major reason why the Dallas Mavericks are the most dominating team in the season. He’s having a career average high in Field Goal percentage and three point field goal percentage. Add to it his 25 points and 10 rebounds per game. This is his time to win it all IMHO

Almost but not quite

Steve Nash - He’s still having another MVP season but I have to agree with the majority, they will not give it to him. Back to back to back MVP plums for Steve? He deserves it, but I don’t think it’s impossible.

Kobe Bryant - After having a string of 50 point games and almost a dozen of late game heroics, Kobe will still have to wait for his first MVP award. Compare his team’s record to Stevie’s team and Dirk’s team and you’ll see why. Read more
