Here’s an indept look by respectable sportsman and businessman, Philip Ella Juico regarding the ambitious PBA Coliseum.

The PBA coliseum
SPORTS FOR ALL By Philip Ella Juico

I read with interest the plan of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) to construct its own coliseum. The coliseum is meant to be the permanent home of the league and will feature, we are told, a practice gym, fitness center and merchandising area where teams can market their products.

The plan is interesting because of the inherent complexities of running a coliseum especially in a setting which is not as economically active as major cities in the United States which have basically only one major public assembly facility for sports.

While I am certain that the talented corporate planning offices of PBA member-companies are doing their own studies and/or assisting the PBA’s own in-house planning group in evaluating the various aspects of the projects, a few basic issues have to be highlighted. Although unsolicited, this is my way of helping the PBA think this through. Read more

Bryant was banished one game for striking San Antonio’s Manu Ginobili in the face during a game Sunday, a suspension that stunned the guard since it came on what he considered an accidental contact.

Ginobili, a Spurs guard who helped Argentina win Olympic gold at the 2004 Athens Games, was struck an elbow from Bryant with 2.7 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter of the Lakers’ 96-94 overtime home loss Sunday. FULL STORY…

To be conservative, let’s publish Google Analytics, January 2007 stats. We got 425 visits and 750 pageviews a day (though Webalizer gives almost 900 page views a day). That’s from 45 readers a day in September of 2006 to over 400 a day. Read more

That, Ronald Tubid (now his running mate in the Ginebra fastbreaks) plays a little dirty.

And that, he is “pango” and he got no problem being pango.

Amen.

Cardona points at Pumaren, that’s F. Pumaren

After drilling in the three-point shot at the corner to send home 80% of the Araneta Coliseum’s spectators with heavy hearts, Mac Cardona pointed to Franz Pumaren (his former coach) at mid court who’s watching the game… What was in is mind that time? Either he is saying, “That’s for you coach” or he might be thinking, “Could you please take-over the coaching job from your bro.” Read more

FREE Spalding Ball

UPDATE: Congatulations to Benny Lirio, Smart Tower, Ayala Avenue, Makati City for winning this All-Star Ball. Ball was free shipped yesterday, February 2, 2007.

There was this radio contest that for a Nintendo Wii to be won, contestants should hold their wee-wee to get the Nintendo Wii. Sadly one mother died in that contest. No-no-no! We will not go in that direction. We will NOT ask some visitors to join in “Hoops’- pound the ball ‘til your down and out” just take home one ball.

Since NBA All-Star is just around the bend, let’s give this All-Star Spalding Ball.

The game:

Simply name the rest of the reserves in the West and East All-Star teams. Enter it in the comments section and you are in for the fight. It just gets a little harder as Yao Ming is down. You will need to add one more center for the West team. Read more

IS IT SAN MIGUEL?

January 25, 2007 by blirio · Leave a Comment

I would be hypocrite if I said I don’t drink San Miguel Beer but that doesn’t mean I don’t drink Ginebra San Miguel. I can even drink a one full bottle ( bilog ) when I was a little, little bit younger.

And if this two will mix it up in my stomach, it would surely be disastrous. Read more
