Due to insistent visitors’ demand or should I say, due to the search logs (Google, upper right of this site) we are receiving looking for PBA’s “Astig Dolls”, we too made some strides to search some materials ourselves.
And guess what, we found one, or two, or more. Read more
What Will be the Repercussions?
November 29, 2006 by Easterangel · 8 Comments
Or will there be any?
San Beda dominated the recent NCAA basketball tournament and ended their 28 years of drought for a title. Nigerian student, Sam Ekwe, showed his stamp on the year by acquiring both the Rookie of the year and MVP honors plus an NCAA championship on his first year!
Now observers are talking that this could be a precedent in the college wars of the NCAA and the UAAP. Will schools now recruit like crazy dominant big men like Sam Ekwe just to get that desired championship? People are saying that what will stop alumni of rich schools like Ateneo and La Salle from going abroad and find a dominant player? In fact people got to see La Salle with a Yugoslav by the name of Beatrivec in the Homegrown Cup and Ateneo still has Australian Zion Laterre. Ateneo also has a Nigerian by the name of Jobe suiting up for Team B.
PBA’s Tough Games Index

In a PBA.ph article, TnT coach Derrick Pumaren expressed his optimism in saying a final four appearance via short route is still possible. But his team, on whirlwind roller coaster ride the entire season, will be playing the top four teams (Sta. Lucia, Barangay Ginebra, Red Bull and San Miguel) in its last five games.
So more likely, his pronouncement is for the boys (his players) and for the men (his bosses), just to motivate and inspire. It then made me wonder, if he knows his team’s itinerary relative to others.
In my quest to learn whose team will be having the hardest grind to finish off the eliminations, I have commissioned myself to sort out the digits and do the stats. A la Hollinger (ESPN). I tried to get the measurement of how tough teams’ sched based on their final games below: Read more
Stern Warning: Take Down NBA Videos at YouTube.com
November 28, 2006 by Claysius · 2 Comments
Sooner or later, this was to happen.
The National Basketball Association last week asked YouTube.com to take down all NBA video content because of copyright concerns.
“We have submitted requests to YouTube to pull down images that are a violation of our copyright and they have,” NBA spokesman Matt Bourne said.
David ‘The Dictator’ Stern, fresh from imposing zero tolerance scheme, ball change, dress codes, is now back at it. Stern thinks it’s as simple as that. YouTube pulls out NBA videos and everybody happy. Well, far from it. If any, NBA owners will be happy. Read more

Alaska Milk On Track
November 25, 2006 by .:. · 5 Comments
Alaska followed up their victory over Welcoat Dragons last Friday with a convincing 110-105 win over Talk ‘N Text. Powered by 2002 MVP Willie Miller’s 29 points and crucial efforts by Tony Dela Cruz and Jeffrey Cariaso in the final minutes.
For Alaska, could these back-to-back wins be the start of good things to come? The Alaska Milkmen have won 3 of 4 games and they did showed up in a game they dropped against Sta. Lucia (101-98). So they are playing good past two weeks. Read more

Angelica Panganiban Retouched
November 24, 2006 by Bionix · 19 Comments
I have been in some sort of a ball-block and doesn’t have anything to say about hoops, players, coaches and all. PBA, NBA or inter-barangay basketball, I got none.
And so, I made this entry. I got NO basketball thoughts but let’s talk Ginebra San Miguel still. How’s this? Let’s talk about the up and coming Ginebra San Miguel 2007 Calendar that features Angelica Panganiban. Read more
IN THE SPOTLIGHT: DARKO MILICIC
November 23, 2006 by SYDMAN · 6 Comments

Currently 3-8 this season (as of November 23), Ben Wallace must not be happy with how the Chicago Bulls are playing this season. Leading the team in minutes, his 6ppg and 10rpg’s aren’t enough to produce the big W’s the Bulls thought they could own with his acquisition. Despite having four players in double figures (Deng, Hinrich, Gordon, Nocioni), they are still resorting to small ball due to the lack of inside scoring which alongside Wallace (well, hardly) falls to the hands of prized catch Tyrus Thomas. With Thomas, Wallace, and P.J. Brown not giving that all-important post-up threat, John Paxson should be smacking his head on why he decided to let go of Tyson Chandler early.
That being said, with $60 million knocking on the Big Ben’s footsteps, surely the Detroit Pistons must have a backup plan set up. Yeah, the Nazr Mohammed acquisition (6.6ppg 6.5rpg) got them that replacement (also taking something out of the San Antonio Spurs’ dominant frontline), and when Antonio McDyess (4.4ppg 5.8rpg) regains his game, something might come out great (highly unlikely).
